EVERYBODY'S BLUE Lyrics

Your Own Road

There's that glaze in your eyes
When you're trying to disguise the fact that
You don't plan to her one thing I say
Cross your arms at your chest
Shake your head and roll your eyes and all the rest
'Cause you know best

You've got your own road
You're gonna go it alone road
It's gonna carry you home road
You've got your own glow
You be the star of your own show
You be the star of your own show

You say it hurts it gets worse
Bang your head against that wall and
You might notice there's so much of this you choose
Stay alive sing your song
It's moving through that pain that makes you strong
'Cause you're not that wrong

You've got your own road
You're gonna go it alone road
It's gonna carry you home road
You've got your own glow
You be the star of your own show
You be the star of your own show

Don't think you're following on mine
I'm doing my time
I committed my crimes
I'm stretching my dimes
I'm spitting my shine

You've got your own road
You're gonna go it alone road
It's gonna carry you home road
You've got your own glow
You be the star of your own show
You be the star of your own show

Crow

Crow
Crow

I do not know why you make such noise
I do not like your tone of voice
I do not know why you get so shrill
Over the hill
I do not like when you're in my tree
I don't like how you talk to me
I cannot stand that you wake me up
I've had enough

Crow
Crow

You eat the roadkill off the road
And baby blackbirds from their homes
You bring your friends and darken up the ground
You rip my trash bag into bits
And scatter what's inside of it
You spread your dirty business all around

Everybody's Blue - Crow
Crow
Crow

You cock your head
You wink your eye
You seem to think before you fly
But you've got mischief in your wings
You mock and scold
You take control
I'd rather hear the birds that sing

Since we have to share these woods.
I wish that I could find your good
Wish I could see some gift you have to give
Or maybe you'll just fly away
And bother someone else today
Or maybe I can live and let you live

Everybody's Blue

Everywhere I go when I'm going everywhere
I can taste it in the water I can feel it in the air
It is lurking in the shadows it's right there under the sun
And it crept in like a plague and it infected everyone
And I don't know about you but it seems to me that
Everybody's Blue

Everywhere I look when I'm looking all around
I see roads that need new pavement
I see faces drawn down
I see signs on half the lawns that say the houses are for sale
The other half seem ravaged by the wind and rain and hail
And I don't know about you, but it seems to me that
Everybody's Blue

Earning less working more
Tired from worry weary from war
Perched on the edge stirred up inside us
Sick of the politics that aim to divide us

And I don't know about you but it seems to me that
Everybody's Blue

All my smiling friends are just not smiling quite as much
My not so smiley friends have gotten sad and out of touch
It's hard to really know that this whole time is all about
But if we'd come together we could ride this thing out
And I don't know about you but it seems to me that
Everybody's Blue
Everybody's Blue
Everybody's Blue

Rain
(Lennon/McCartney)

If the rain comes they run and hide their heads
They might as well be dead
If the rain comes
If the rain comes

When the sun shines they slip into the shade
And sip their lemonade
When the sun shines
When the sun shines

Rain
I don't mind
Shine
The weather's fine

I can show you that when it starts to rain
Everything's the same
I can show you
I can show you

Rain
I don't mind
Shine
The weather's fine

Can you hear me that when it rains and shines
It's just a state of mind?
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?

Get Good

I want to grow out of wasting time
I want to be done with rotgut wine
I want to get faster to ask for help
I want to learn how to not repeat myself

And I want to get good
I want to get good good
I want to get good

I want to do more than take up space
I want to leave something behind in this place
I want to be sunshine on two feet and
I want to come dancing up your street

And I want to get good
I want to get good good
I want to get good

I want to wake up in the morning
with all of my cylinders firing
I want to fall into bed
Thinking maybe I've been inspiring

And I want to get good
I want to get good good
I want to get good

I want to get good at loving you
I want to be great at following through
I want to really mean it when I say 'forever'
I want us to be better for being together

And I want to get good
I want to get good good
I want to get good

Bad Bad Children gonna drive a good woman to drink
Bad Bad Children gonna drive a good woman to drink
She turns herself inside out trying to get you to think

Bad Bad Children you better stop your sass
Bad Bad Children you better stop your sass
Nice kids all around the world are gonna make your cash

Lushness

I prefer the lushness of the summer when my feet are always warm
And the breeze transports the fragrance of the flowers and the rain after a storm
And the day sprawls out before me like a blanket on a green and easy lawn
And an evening full of fireflies will twinkle me to sleep after it's gone

I prefer the company of those with whom I easily agree
Just a wink a nod a shoe style and a bumper sticker they agree with me
And in clean cooperation we are working on some thing that we all like
And without an ounce of tension we continue till it' time to say goodnight

But now my toes are frozen
There is ice beneath my wheels
There's a truck at my back bumper
And a blizzard on my windshield
As I whimper for my comfort
It occurs to me to say
Please
Help me find my dignity and grace
When I cannot have my way

I prefer the lushness of the summer when my feet are always warm
And the breeze transports the fragrance of the flowers and the rain after a storm

I Am Woman
By Helen Reddy and Ray Burton

I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back and pretend
And I've heard it all before and I've been down there on the floor
And no one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise but it's wisdom born of pain
Yes I paid the price
But look how much I've gained
If I have to I can do anything
I am strong
I am invincible
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'Cause it only serves to make me more determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger not a novice any longer
'Cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

Oh yes I am wise but it's wisdom born of pain
Yes I paid the price
But look how much I've gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong I am invincible
I am woman

I am woman watch me grown see me standing toe to toe
As I spread my loving arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo with a long long way to go
Until I help me brother understand

Oh yes I am wise but it's wisdom born of pain
Yes I paid the price but look how much I've gained
If I have to I can do anything
I am strong I am invincible
I am woman

yes I am wise but it's wisdom born of pain
yes I paid the price but look how much I've gained I am woman ah ah
you can bend but never break me, cause it only serves to make me I am woman
I am woman watch me grow see me standing toe to toe I am woman......

Scissor Man

Lilacs Blooming in a Northern farm town
Back when the hobos got around in those
Slow moving steam engine freight trains
He'd be carrying a leather sack
The kids would see him walking from the railroad track
With his long gray hair and blue jeans covered with grass stains

Here comes the Scissor Man
Throw a little extra in the frying pan
And leave some good hot supper
By the water pump in a coffee can for the Scissor Man

He'd swing 'round past the wood pile
And pick a few logs up with a smile
'Cause he knew these folks appreciated what he came for
Always be late afternoon and
Mama would be working her wooden spoon
When he'd tap his well worn shoe against that screen porch door

Here comes the Scissor Man
Throw a little extra in the frying pan
And leave some good hot supper
By the water pump in a coffee can for the Scissor Man

Kids get away from the window
Kids get away from that door
Go on and bring all the scissors from the upper right hand drawer
Don't talk don't stare keep your distance would you
Leave that man alone and just let him do his business
With our scissors and his sharpening stone

No one ever knew his name
But they all knew they were all the same
On the edge of town on the edge of survival
All respectful all were grateful
Nice sharp scissors for a plateful
Do unto others like it says in the Bible

Here comes the Scissor Man
Throw a little extra in the frying pan
And leave some good hot supper
By the water pump in a coffee can for the Scissor Man
